How can I use Clove Bud oil to treat a toothache?

I put 1-2 drops of Clove Bud oil on a Q-tip and rub it into the area. I usually do it on the gums surrounding the tooth and sometimes, depending on what the problem is, directly on the tooth. Be careful, though. It can burn. But it numbs up the area nicely. Makes it easier until you can get in to see the dentist!

Clove_OilI also use a drop of Cinnamon Bark with the Clove because the taste is a little sweeter and it, along with the Clove, helped keep the area a little cleaner. But it isn’t necessary to combine the two.

It numbed me up usually for long enough that I could get to sleep at night.

It also helps to take ibuprofen, particularly at night, because a painful tooth hurts more when you lie down. The Clove Bud oil will help numb the pain while you wait for the ibuprofen to kick in. For me, the numbness lasted about an hour. It might be different for each person.

Go lightly on it until you see how you do with it. The mouth can be very sensitive so it is by far better to undo than overdo.

About JC Shannon

I am a writer. I was first introduced to this world of natural health in 2005 when I was asked to write an article about using essential oils. Since I like to know what I'm writing about before I do it, I immersed myself in the essential oil and aromatherapy world and found I prefer it. I never left it. In a quest to educate myself and others in more alternative and safer ways to make our world a better place, I am always looking for good information to share.
