CBD Smoothie Recipes

We all know that CBD offers a host of benefits for both mental and physical health, and while we want to experience those benefits daily, some of us have a hard time remembering to add CBD to our morning routine. Or, maybe you just don’t want to hold your CBD oil under your tongue and are looking for a simpler way to add CBD to your day.

Whatever the case, CBD smoothies are a great way to get a variety of nutrients and the benefits of CBD. Here are just a few recipes for you to try, and some tips on how you can put together a truly healthy smoothie.

Key Smoothie Ingredients

When making a smoothie, you could technically throw just about anything into the blender and call it good. This method may not always yield tasty results (depending on what you put in the blender), and it may not always contain the most nutritious ingredients. So, to make sure you are getting both a truly healthy and tasty smoothie, try using some of these key ingredients:

  • Kale, Spinach, or Other Dark and Leafy Greens: These leafy greens are low in sugar and calories, but they pack a powerful punch. They are high in iron, protein, fiber, folate, and phytonutrients.
  • Chia Seeds: Chia seeds are full of omega-3s and fiber for healthy skin, hair, nails, and digestion. Chia seeds are also great for thickening up a smoothie. For best results, soak your chia seeds in your smoothie liquid for a few minutes before blending.
  • Flax Seeds, Oil, or Powder: Flax products are also high in omega-3s and fiber. They can also add a slightly nutty flavor to your smoothie. If you’re using seeds, it’s best to grind them up right before you use them.
  • Cocoa: If you’ve got a hankering for some chocolate, sweeten up your smoothie with some cocoa. Not only will you get the antioxidants, but you’ll also get that chocolatey flavor without the added sugar.
  • Ginger: This natural anti-inflammatory ingredient can add a kick to your smoothie and boost your health. Add a one-inch piece of peeled ginger to smoothies with stone fruits, berries, or citrus.
  • Nuts or Nut Butters: These heart-healthy ingredients are full of protein, minerals, and fatty acids. If you are using whole nuts, soak them in water for a few hours before making your smoothie. If you choose nut butters, go for the minimally processed and unsalted ones.
  • Avocado: Adding half of an avocado to your smoothie can give you the fiber you need to stay full longer, and the healthy fats to keep your skin and digestion healthy.
  • Raw Honey: Pure, raw honey is a great natural sweetener. Plus, it’s packed with antioxidants and can help with pollen allergies.
  • Berries: Add berries to your smoothie for an antioxidant and fiber boost, and for a naturally sweet taste. If you choose to use frozen berries, just make sure they don’t have any added sugar.
  • Cinnamon, Turmeric, and Other Herbs: Both Turmeric and Cinnamon are natural anti-inflammatories, and fresh herbs can add a lot of other flavors and benefits to your smoothie. Give some fresh mint or cumin seeds a try, too!

Obviously, this is not a comprehensive list of healthy smoothie ingredients, but it is a good start if you are not sure what to throw in your blender. When making a CBD smoothie, however, it is important to note that many of these ingredients contain compounds or fatty acids that help carry the CBD through your digestive system and into the bloodstream without being broken down as much. This means that your CBD stays more concentrated, allowing you to experience greater benefits. Some other compounds in these ingredients work with CBD and other cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, etc. to enhance the natural effects of your CBD oil.

CBD Smoothie Recipes

When making your CBD smoothie, please note that the amount of CBD oil you add to your smoothie can be different than what the recipe calls for. We recommend adding your daily CBD dose to your smoothie. Whether that’s half a dropper, a full dropper, or up to two droppers, you can add your morning dose of CBD to your smoothie. Keep in mind, however, that unflavored CBD oil could add an earthy flavor to your smoothie, especially when you add more than a full dropper.
